Diocesan Correspondence

The Archives Collection of the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane is fortunate to have original correspondence from before, during, and after the First World War. From the ongoing attempts by Archbishop Donaldson to increase the numbers of Chaplains, to Canon Garland’s dogmatic desire to help the troops, within these letters one can see vividly the trials and challenges faced during this difficult time. The correspondence includes those associated with Archbishop Donaldson as Senior Chaplain of Brisbane and Archbishop, the Registry, and some personal correspondence, including the heartbreaking letters to a parent to inform them of their son’s death.
