Project description

The Foreign Correspondent Study Tour is a program led by the University of Technology Sydney in Australia.  The study tour will allow students to learn and experience what it means to be an international reporter.  In partnership with SBS Online, the study tour emulates the ‘foreign correspondent’ experience by exposing students to real deadlines and on-the-ground experience away from the classroom.  In turn, this study tour will prepare students for future journalistic roles within an international context by providing the tools for journalism within another culture.  The program includes scholarly interaction with local host universities, industry visits, journalism training seminars and meetings with experts in the field.  The study tour offers a practical application of the conceptual frameworks students have studied as part of their degree.  It assists in the internationalisation of a journalism degree by developing relations with the industry and academic sectors outside Australia, offering a practical skill-based learning experience that will assist in creating graduates who are job ready at a global level.
